First of all, you need to create a computer account on the 2000 machine for the
98 box. The account needs to have the same username and password used on the 98
box when you get the logon screen at bootup. Once you've created that account, ensure
it's a member of the "users" group. Once you've done this your remote 98 PC will
be able to access any shares on your 2000 machine that the user group has access
to. When creating a share, you'll notice the property sheet has "sharing" and "security"
The sharing tab is for remote access and the security is local NTFS permissions.
You will want to make sure you have the user group added in both places. I don't
want to get into the differences between NTFS perm's and share perm's, you don't
need all the details, just make sure you have your access set to the same in both
places for the users group and everything should work just fine.
