To solve several problems like dropouts in recorded audio and uncooperative capture cards I disabled ACPI in my KT7A-RAID pc (System|my computer| power management|standard pc or something like that) and the crappy white 60Hz splash screen is now on for 1:11 (was 30sec). The purple blocks get stuck above the "o" in "Microsoft". Unlike Linux, win2k refuses to disclose what it's doing during startup. Uck. Don't have a solution, sorry
