Both current machines are Win98 first edition. Everything works fine. I used to have a laptop using Windows 2000 that I managed to set up to connect to the LAN (I have a hub). I lost that laptop on Sept 11th in NYC. I bought a new Dell Latitude 810 laptop with Windows 2000 Professional. I have it configured to use TCP/IP on the LAN using 192.168.0.3 as an address. I can ping around the network. I can see the two 98 machines in "Computers Near Me". I can ping IP addresses outside in the big wide world. The ONLY thing that doesn't work is DNS. I have the win98 host machine configured as the gateway (192.168.0.1). The host machine uses Sygate as the NAT. I cannot ping using www.someplace.com type addresses. I cannot get IE to find any web pages. Is there ANY way I can get it to work without installing Win98 SE on the sharing host? It's my wife's business machine and if I mess it up there will be hell to pay. I can't afford a second Win2000 Pro machine. I need to make what I have NOW work. Any help would be much appreciated. Is there a way to make it work or am I painted into a corner by the "progress" at MS? Info via email would be great. Thanks.
