OK, so I'm running win2k server and IIS 5. I am running a webserver assigned to an
IP, and that is running fine.
What I'm trying to do now is run a streaming media server from windows media services.
I understand you have to run the webserver from an assigned IP, which I am.
I installed Windows Media Services, and under services, it says that the following
have been started:Windows Media Program Service, Windows Media Station Service, Windows
Media Monitor Service.
In administrator tools/Computer Management/services, I take a looke at each of these
components and look at their properties--Under Log On, I have them all using the
local system account, allowing the service to interact with the desktop.
Initially they were assigned automatically to work under netshowservices, but I couldnt
connect to the server, so I figured I'd try using the local system account. I have
even tried setting my administrator account as the LogOn, but I still cant connect!
Upon launching Windows Media Administrator, I get the following error message:"Failed
to connect to all windows media services on server (My server name). Either you do
not have access rights to administer the server, windows media services are not currently
running, or windows media has not been installed on this server."
Now, I'm the administrator of the server, and I sign in as such. Windows media services
have been started according to the services screen.
So, Im stymied. Can anyone help me get connected to the server thru Windows Media
Administrator?
