Here is your solution as it worked for me. Run Msconfig.exe for Windows 2000.
(if you don't have it, it is available for free on the web or I can send it to you.)
Now the pricks were a little tricky. Instead of running the updates as a startup,
they run it as a service, so go into the services tab. And look for "Automatic Updates".
Guess what, all you have to do is uncheck the box and you are done. I hope it
works for you. This way you are not messing with the registry and it is foolproof.....Warren
