I am not sure about Win2K but I solved my XP problem after much research by flashing the BIOS. My problem was in ACPI wich some older BIOS do not support and I dont mean real old either my system was only two years old. In WinXP there is a log file in the system folder in the control pannel that records the errors. Check if Win2K has a similiar feature and if u see an ACPI error flash your BIOS...
