Yes Haley, I did finally figure it all out. I made the Desktop my primary computer
and use it as my network server. I connected my dial-up phone line to the Desktop
w/MS Windows XP. Then I ran a twisted wire cable (RJ45 connectors) from the Desktop
to a Linksys Workgroup Switch. Then I ran another twisted wire cable (RJ45 connectors)
to the docking station for my Laptop w/Windows 2000 and disconnected my Laptop modem.
My Laptop now runs thru my Desktop and we can't see any delays because the Lynksys
switch handles the traffic to our local ISP deial-up server.
You will have to go in and configure using Ethernet both computers so they are accessing
each other thru each pc's Adapters.
Hope this helps,
Al Barrs
