This is definetely a problem with un-installing norton antivirus software. Here
is a fix (for windows2000):
Open regedit and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default
There should be another .Default key under this key. If it does not exit it, creat
a new key and call it .Default.
You can create default sounds under this key similar to the other events or simply
go to Sounds/Multimedia in ControlPanel and set your Default Beep sound to whatever
you want.
Hope this helps.
