RPC related DFS problem

After rebooting a W2K srv box, a DFS root on that server is no longer available.
When trying to connect to the DFS root via the DFS admin tool i receive 'RPC server
not available' message.
I've tried resarting the the RPC service as per Microsoft article 224370, but the
service is already running. By design the service cannot be stopped if already running.
There are no connectivety issues with that server, which is often the case with RPC
problems. AD replication (which is running on IP encapsulated RPC) is functioning
perfectly also (thank god!!) Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
