Everything Crashes

My dad also runs W2000 and if he tries to run anything from IE5 to Windows Setup
it crashes. The only time you can get anything to run is in safe mode. When I try
to start up using the W2000 disk for sone reason it wont use it (even though I have
instructed it to in his PC Bios setup). What is likely to be wrong and what do I
do next?
