stopr error installing modem

I installed a (conexant) cxt1035-hcf modem, and during istallation, i got a message
to the effect that "the driver does not have microsoft's digital signature" but
i went ahead and installed the driver anyway. When i rebooted my pc, i got a blue
screen stop error.
Any clue what's happening?
