Win2000 autocreate folder problem

I use a script to generate users and redirect their User Profile and Home Folder to the Win2000 server using the %username% directive. The User Profile folder gets created automatically but not the Home Folder. Both parent folder permissions have the same share and security settings. If I manually make an alteration to the Home Folder path and restore it (to make the Apply button active) then the folder is automatically created. The script used to work for both folder creations but I don't know what system changes I must have made to now prevent it from working. I use Windows XP Pro for the client logon. Can anyone provide an answer or give me information to help diagnose the problem. I've spent many hours searching for a solution on Microsoft's site and a number of other search engines but without success. Any help from this forum would be appreciated.
