Partition Magic reports error #1516 Partition improperly dismounted:
"The partition dirty flag is set in a restart record in the journal file. This error
may have been caused by a power failure or system crash while the Windows NT operating
system was writing the partition.
This problem can often be resolved by running CHKDSK /F on the affected drive."
OK, but how do I run CHKDSK /F, since Win 2000 Professional will not boot?
I can boot to DOS from a floppy, but DOS cannot see the NTFS partition. I CAN boot
to the NTFS partition using Active@ Partition Recovery, but since I have no backup
of the MBR, I cannot restore it.
What I need to do is boot to the NTFS partition in DOS, then run CHKDSK /F. How
do I do this?
