This solution will not give the desired results. You have treated "file type" an being the same as "file extension," but that's not true. For example, a file extension of "txt" might have a file type of "text file." You can see that "text" will sort to a different place than "txt," since the second letters of those words are different. The point of the article is that Explorer sort by extension, and the article is correct.
