I had the same problem tryed everything. I just had installed linux and it gave me
the 1516 error. I put in the windows xp disk and choose system recovery console tried
some of the commands and to make a long story short I picked the fixmbr witch stands
for fix master boot record it took a minute to start but all was fine hope this helps.
