Which version of Windows are you using? It doesn't sound like one I am familiar with...
You can try changing %1 to %l (a lowercase "L"), but it shouldn't make a difference.
It kind of sounds like you created an association and not the DefaultIcon ("Windows
cannot find the file %1"), but I doubt you did.
If nothing else, you can always export the HKCR\icofile branch of your registry and
email it to me (kdlsnickers@jwcs.net) and *maybe* I will be able to tell what's going
on. Or, you can send me an email and I'll send you a .reg file that should create
the proper values for you.
Note: To those who read this, I intend to close this email account before too much
longer. When this happens, you won't get any response at all to an email sent to
it (all emails will simply be funneled to oblivion). However, I will try and remember
to post a new address later.
