Marc ,,,your right it will not work because it's for a USB port not for a pcmcia
cd rom....need to read the text file that came with it...
"in another (different) " I would not because it's laptop take in to a desktop and
try it ...
Unplug the one that's in the desktop and plug the laptop HD in.....
Then boot with the win2k cd and let in format the drive.
DON'T install win2k just format the HD...
Or you can download a bootdisk for win98se and format the drive,,,from bootdisk.com
You says what's with all the format stuff...???
If you install win2k on the laptop drive in the desktop pc it will use the hardware
in the desktop and not the laptop,,,,,and you don't have a way to fix it on the laptop
with out a cd drive....(to run the repair item to find the hardware on the laptop...)
So anyway after you have formated the drive go to the win2k cd and copy the I-386
dir to the drive..
it will be on the cd under winnt/I-386.
copy to the laptop HD i.e. C:\>I-386setupNT
Then put it back in the laptop and restart the laptop with the win98se boot disk,,,then
go to
C:\>I-386setupNT dir and type winnt.exe in it will install and set it up to run
on the laptop.......
I know it looks hard but it's not, just takes time....with a out boot cd rom drive...
