Roland, PC Magazine used to have a freebie for win 98 that was called TrayManager
that was supposed to restore the tray icons/shell in the event of a crash. I have
it installed on my xp --i still have shell crashes, some worse than others
-- ctrl+alt+del restores my shell now to enable a proper reboot.
with win98 you could try a repair -- you need your win98 disk -- cant remember much
more -think it is done thru add/delete function of control panel
Pc Mag do not have freebies anymore -- think they want $20/year for their little
gems now
