'Bridge Class' Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 4:43 pm Windows 2000 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by john (13 messages posted) I have no idea how this file got on my computer or what it does, but last night I noticed this file that is running on my startup. I tried deleting it from msconfig and currentversion\run but it just keeps coming back. The file is located in: 'C:\Winnt\Downloaded Program Files' under the name of 'brdg class.' I tried just deleting/removing the file but it tells me it is currently in use. I viewed the properties of the file and this is what I found. Brdg Class Type: Active-X Control Creation Date: 12/23/03 7:26pm Last Accessed: 12/24/03 Total Size: 57,344 bytes (56kb) ID: {9C691A33-7DDA-4C2F-BE4C-C176083F35CF} Status: Installed CodeBase: http://www2.flingstone.com/cab/2000XP/bridge.cab I downloaded the file and viewed the contents with Notepad. There were 2 files, bridge.dll and bridge.inf. I searched my computer for 'bridge.dll' and 'bridge.inf' but no entries were found. The contents of 'bridge.inf' are: ; INF file for bridge [version] ; version signature (same for both NT and Win95) do not remove signature="$CHICAGO$" AdvancedINF=2.0 [Add.Code] bridge.dll=bridge.dll [bridge.dll] file-win32-x86=thiscab clsid={9C691A33-7DDA-4C2F-BE4C-C176083F35CF} FileVersion=1,0,0,109 RegisterServer=yes I went to the website that it gave me and it was just a picture but I think it is some kind of search bar. And and and, I can't believe I didn't think of the easiest solution. Try going to Add/Remove programs and seeing if it was in there. Now I feel really stupid and I am just rambling on but I guess I am going to post this anyway.
