i had similar problems right after downloading 2000 pro,i used the McAfee avert stinger
software after you download it open it and go to preference and check the 1st two
boxes at the left and check repair top right under detection check last three boxes
and on the right under detection check 1st two and the very last then run when on
first start up right after windows and connect to the internet as it is scanning
immediately
