task manager & right click

I'm using windows 2000 and have 2 problems - wondering if this is a virus...
1) I hit CTL-ALT-DEL to get to the task manager to turn off annoying programs. The
"task manager" button is not highlighted - only choices are to cancel or shut down..
2) At the same time, right click function on mouse disappeared...
PLEASE HELP,
