MSN messenger shuts down automatically

I am using Windows 2000. Apparently there is an executable file by the name of Winkmew.exe
running and this shut down my messenger within a few seconds. Sometimes, when I am
running various softwares, an window saying that an error in winkmew.exe has occured
and this file stops running. Once that happens, I am able to run msn.
This file (Winkmew.exe) appeared in task manager, under processes. It is apparently
consuming a lot of CPU resources and I cannot close it.
