Laptop won't find wireless card

I just bought a new linksys wireless adapter for my notebook (WPC55AG) and when I
plug it into my cardbus port the pc does not see the card. I have tried a friends
card in my pc and also my new card in a friends pc and it works both ways so I know
my pc is okay (i think) and the new card is okay. I have no idea why my computer
won't find the card. The laptop is a ThinkPad A20m. I'm so frusterated. Any ideas???
