Frank,
Thank you so much for this post!
The low resoluton icons in Windows 2000 were really getting me down, and I would
never have thought that NetMeeting was the culprit.
I have summarised the steps I took in case it helps others:
Open Netmeeting
From Tools pulldown, select Remote Desktop Sharing.
Go thru the wizard and end by clicking on 'Finish'. This will enable remote desktop
sharing.
Then select Remote desktop sharing again and de-select "Enable Remote Desktop Sharing
on this computer"
Re-boot.
Icons will still show in low resolution
Go to Display Properties, Effects tab,
disable "display icons in all possible colors", click Apply, enable
"display icons in all possible colors", click "Apply" again and your icons should
be restored!
