I'm having the same problem too. I have winXP Pro. I recently uninstalled EmEditor
(it's a text editing program like TextPad) and all of my file associations for HTM
and HTML document are gone. Their icons are not the default windows icon (sheet of
paper with a blue e) anymore. I tried to reassociate it in Folder Options, pointing
the icon library to iexplorer.exe, but it didn't work. I deleted the iconcache.db
but that didn't fix it either.
So I followed the registry fix here but had to stop at step 8. I couldn't create
another "icofile" key since it already exited in
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.ico\OpenWithProgids]
"icofile"=hex(0):
Can anyone here help me?
