After trying everything else, the process of enabling NetMeeting desktop sharing
then disabling it again is what finally worked for me (yep, I tried absolutely everything
else). BUT - NetMeeting wouldn't start (crashed on load) so I had to uninstall my
webcam driver from Device Manager first (right-click and choose uninstall, device
manager is in the list when you right click My Computer and choose 'Manage' - there
are other ways to get to it I don't recall).
My symptoms, in case this sounds familiar:
- desktop icons in 16 awful colours
- winamp visualisation would not display in fullscreen
- winamp desktop overlay broken
- milkdrop winamp visualisation reported error 'graphics card doesn't support advanecd
3d features'
- web cam wouldn't work (and netmeeting wouldn't start)
And yes, thinking back a bit I tried playing with Netmeeting until it crashed.
