If you can't get by the black screen via. the safemode you have a hardware error
or a software error and windows can't get around it at boot.
The norm would be hardware error..making a bad call to a ram address.= black screen
(BSOD)
Unplug or remove the last item you put in i.e. USB item or pci card or router.
If you can't get it to boot by removing a item reboot with the win2k cd and run the
repair item under the SETUP item..
It will rework the reg file and put down new OS files so you can logon to win2k..
