In order for win2k to play a .wav file "automatically" it must have a program associated 
with it. When win2k is installed, the default associated program is Windows Media 
Player. 
You probably had an older version that looked differently from the new one you installed. 
If you have a favorite media player, use that one; if not, use WMP, maybe with a 
different view (or skin).
