"Sounds and Multimedia" (mmsys.cpl) is a specialized tool, part of the system configuration 
tools in Control Panel. Behind the scenes it uses the mechanism as windows media 
player. When you use it, you still need some mouse clicks.
There a lots of Players out there, and many of them better than WMP. Do a google 
serach, and you may find something you like.
