This is a long shot
Some programs will take over the spooler file on the fly and stick in the one they 
want to use in it's place..
and will knock out the win2k spooler file...
Lantastic is one of them..
Check to see if you have more than you need on the machine..and the dates on them..
printui.dll,printnt.dll,Mprintui.dll,,,,,
Lantastic will move printui.dll over to one side and use it's printui.dll...when 
it pops in it will nail the Add Printer item and it will just be blank (no printers 
listed and you can't add one or see any that are installed)
You can also download some free software that will tell you what's going on in the 
background...
one is called filemon plus others from the same web site...see below....they should 
help pin it down..

PsTools is alot like MS Tlist but it runs in windows GUI
