Cable unplugged message in Win2K

It happened to me yesterday suddenly. I restarted my computer and the icon appeared saying that my network card is unplugged. I checked everything, the cable is plugged, I uninstalled and reinstalled the network card and the computer recognised it, yet still the same message and no internet. Please help me what to do???
