Use this tool to find out what kind of card you have on the machine and it will give
you a link to the download site for your card.drivers. (aida32 see below)

"I shoud by a new card? ) not 100% sure if it's the card but you need a starting
point and that's one I would start with..
They are cheap now days for about 10 bucks or so..
and it's always nice to have a spare on hand if turns out not to be the error..
Once you have a new card then you know for sure (99.9%sure) that's where the error
is coming from.
If you can't get it to work then you can work down the line so speak...moving cable
around,if your on a DSL/Cable modem unplug it and then let it reset .
(power it down for 30 sec.or so then plug in the power cable to it)
You can also use the command ipconfig /all from the cmd (DOS window) and use the
command ipconfig /? it will list all the commands

aida32 download From:

Aida32 - Enterprise System Information 3.93
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download183.html
Size: 3.1Mb
This is the one I like , It will show you YOUR
CD Prouct ID Numbers and other SN#,of software you have
installed on your machine...so you can print them out
for safe keeping...
Just click on Software item (on the left) and then right click on the items
on the right and select copy and then open NotePad and paste it in
and print it out and put one with YOUR win2k cd...
********
Personal System Information 3.93
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html
Size: 2.9 Mb

Plus more below

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads9.html

unzip it to C:\Aida32 and then run the aida32.exe to run the program
Start/Run c:\Aida32\aida32.exe

New ver. of aida32 called Everest Home Edition
It has a installer and uninstaller with it..
from below:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download183.html

Plus get drivers from and check your hardware
Windows Catalog and HCL
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx
-------------------------------------------------
You did't say if you can get on the NET...via a modem,
But you can't get on the NET, download it and put it on a cd then install it on your
machine.
To get the ID of you nic /Lan. card
Make ,Model #, download site.etc.

Hope this helps a bit
