I disabled mine 2 years ago, I do sometimes have a bad shutdown, never had a problem. Open a command window and type this "chkntfs /x c:", if you have a c: and d: partition it would be "chkntfs /x c: d:" etc...If you do this, occaisonally run a chkdsk manually.
