Luciano,
Are you able to run a dxdiag ? If so can you do a "save all" and email me the output.
I'll have a look at the versions and see if I can spot anything.
It may be worth you trying a couple of utilities from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml.
I've used a couple myself like filemon and regmon etc. to spot which file/process
is making a call that generates an error.
It sounds like either your SP and HotFix updates or Visual Studio.NET & SQL Server
2000 have overwriten a W2k file with an XP version, but finding the culprit isn't
going to be easy.
As previously the culprit could be DirectX. Does Icewind Dale & Disciples 2 utilise
DX ? If so could the install of overwiten part of your DX install. Try re-installing
DX over the top or updating it to the latest version available (you may have to reaply
the GDI fix though).
I'm out of the country for a week after saturday so if you send the dxdiag output
before then
I'll try and take a look before I go.
One day windows will be easy.....just not in my lifetime...
Jon...
