CD ROM drives

on my comp I had an HP CD-Writer. My computer crashed and I lost the software for
the CD Writer, and now the drive acts as a second CD Rom drive. Recently I have
been getting an error message when I put a CD in either CD ROM drive, it reads, "Access
to the specified device, path or file is denied". ANyone have any ideas as to what
my problem is?
