On one of the links you gave, I discovered that I had misquoted the error code. It should have been 0xc0000142 and this apparently is related to the loading of DLLs (wrong version or not yet initialised). Now all I need to know is which DLL that relates to. Thanks, DEX, for your help so far. Perry
