I guess you can try that BUT it sounds like you are trying to to put a 2nd floor
on a house that is built on a ice berg.....
Sometimes it's just best to start over you can take my word for it or not....that's
up to you..
It's like anything you build you need to have a solid base and most upgrade installs
are not rock hard.
I wish MS would stop using the word Upgrade and change it to Move Up To A New OS
and set the cd by default to make a new partition to install the new OS on and move
the programs and files to the new OS then you would have a dual boot system and things
would run right from the getgo...then you would be ask if you want to remove the
old OS after a bit when you are sure you want to use the new OS or just go back to
the old OS and remove the new one..
anyway good luck
It would just a take more room on the HD but it would be safe upgrade so to speak...
