I would first try doing a recovery install instead of a full format and re-install..mind
you, if there are virii on the MBR, then a format and re-mbr is what you'lle need...recovery
install will only re-write your OS files and not affect your personal stuff...but
the full format will so do so with caution (if in doubt, don't).
