I have installed a new Linksys network adapter, and I had the problem of the computer
restarting itself as well. However, I did note that if I held the power button in,
to manually shutdown, then it wouldn't come on until I unplugged then plugged in
the ethernet cable, then it would come back on again.
The way I fixed this was a setting in the Power settings of my mainboard BIOS labeled
"PCIPME Power Up Control". I switched that to disabled, and haven't had any trouble
with it rebooting, either by just being off, or replugging the ethernet cable in.
