Since my machine stays on 24/7, it has been hard for me to pin down what caused the problem to start. Could have been the "free" upgrade to Windows Media Player 9. The problem was just a nuisance until I tried to load some software that required a re-boot. Since the re-boot wasn't clean, the program didn't install correctly and won't run.
