"Without opening a can of worms - I think its ridiculous for sytems to come with
'OEM'
operating systems which do not provide for an easy method of restoring in the case
of a hard drive failure. A few bad sectors in the wrong place and bye-bye OS."
That is where a drive image comes in handy. I made a drive image of my original OEM
install and when the drive failed I was able to install the drive image on a non-OEM
drive.
You should only have to install SP4 once. After that Windows Update should provide
the right files.
If you slipstream SP4 with a 2000 CD it only installs once.
