It would be nice to see what the proper sequence should be, and I think that is within the registry, no? back in the days of autoexec.bat you could see what 'should' be happening... >It's hard to say what you have on the 2nd HD. >that win2k wants to read. >It can be many things. the bootlog i've been able to find has the \systemroot%\ for most of the drivers, which should point to c:\winnt...it should be obvious if there is a pointer to another drive, so that's why i suspect it's in the registry section that describes what hardware is connected to the computer?? >You can try this boot up with the win2k cd and run the repair this will tell HAL >to look at the HD's and hardware. i tried to do the repair and still no dice, it gets past the OS selection screen but fails after the kernel starts to load....so I really need to find out, what is the list of commands that is invoked during the kernel load?? somewhere in that list is the pointer to the missing drive.... thanks!
