Well I tried everything everyone else had done here and I still had the icon colour
problem.
this was a real pain 'cos I was trying to design icons for my app and I couldn't
see the full colours!
Anyway, I figured NetMeeting was the problem as I'd recently used it for the first
time.
Remote desktop sharing did indeed seem to be the source of the problem, but with
one addition that I don't think anyone else mentioned.
I tried switching remote desktop sharing on and off to no avail, then I saw there
was a "true colour" option in the sharing options from the tools menu.
I switched this ON - then I enabled remote desktop sharing, then disabled it again.
Closed Netmeeting and finally everything was back to normal!
It sort of makes sense if you think about it - if you've switched the true colour
option off, rather than capture the desktop then tweak the colours and sharing, Netmeeting
changes the desktop colours first before sharing - makes sense as I assume this is
more efficient in terms of performance.
