Disk I/O Error: Status 00000400

Hello, I've been running two hard drives with Server 2000 with no problem. Today I boot up and my 2nd drive wont open because of the Disk I/O Error: Status 00000400. I can see the drive recognized in Bios but cant get to the drive through DOS or other hard drive. Tried restarting with installation disk but just keep getting the same error message. Any thoughts besides a new harddrive?
