Thank you all for this forum -- this is the only place where I've been able to find
any clues as to what to do.
However, this answer is very vague to me:
*The Win2k setup asks questions all along the way. The suggestion was to select "Install
Win2k" . You then can select the folder it is to go in. If you select the current
Win2k folder, it will replace all Win2k files and you will have a "clean" install.
Other than that, you can boot from a Win98 startup disk, run FDISK, remove current
partitions, put in a new Primary partition and then install from the Win2k cd on
a clean disk. *
What does one do when 1) not asking me any questions so that no option to do what
suggested and 2) no win98 startupdisk, no FDISK, and no partitions? I cannot get
beyond "registering components" window & all I wanted to do was get my desktops icons
visible again ...
Please please please please -- can anyone clue me in?
totally lost
ps: related to no desktop icons thread
