In order for you to share the InterNet with your desktop it must be on line with
the InterNet then you can share it with other PC's.
Like the name states SHARE.
If you want it to tell the desktop to dial the net from your Laptop you will need
to use a 3rd party software like PC Anywhere or LapLink 11.5 or i-share (from Lantastic)
but the desktop must be up and running with the 3rd party software running in the
background.
Now DSL is a new ball game because it HOT and ready to go all the time not like the
dialup modem setup.
