spell check won't run

  I have a student who has typed a research paper in MS Word (in Office 2000) and 
she can't perform a spell check in the document.  The problem isn't that spell check 
won't run, it's that it thinks everything is spelled correctly - even when she deliberately 
types words wrong.  It only seems to affect that document.  I tried bringing up the 
document on another computer and running a spell check, but the same problem occurs. 
 I’ve tried copying and pasting the text to another Word doc and running spell check 
with the same results.  
  Obviously, we could go through and manually proofread it, but I’d rather the program 
works the way it’s supposed to.   Any ideas??
