Win2k, new MB reboots

I basically have rebooting problem that occurs anytime I try to do something with video, such as editing, playing video from a zip file on a cd, or even when I was trying to load ULead video software on the system, sudden reboot. I don't seem to have the problem with every day stuff (surfing, file handling, paperport scanning, etc.) but the minute I go into video which is intensive on the system it will reboot. I can play a movie alright, but if I say, try to fast foward, move the bar, etc. it will reboot. I have recently purchased two mb's, both Abit VA-20 only because I was not ready to really upgrade and my son had a mb problem and I wanted to stay with the hardware we had. My mb loaded up fine, except the ATI AIW 7500 card would not even light up the new lcd monitor I had, gave an "out of sync range" error or something. So I dropped back to the onboard unichrome display adaptor just to get things rolling and have been fairly happy with that until recently when I got a little more ambitious and tried doing things with video. I have not tried games and am not a gamer, but anything intense like advancing video frames, video authoring, editing, etc will reboot. No error message, no notice. Why it wanted to reboot just because I was loading Ulead software is a puzzle also, even though that software came with the ATI card. Checked memory with memory testing programs and nothing there (I know it's not perfect), and any software diagnostics like Sisandra, Advanced Systems Optimizer, freshdiagnose, etc do not show any particular problems. There may be an issue with bios settings. I have pc3200 DDR 400mhz ram, two 512 sticks, new and matched. Fresh diagnose shows numbers comparable to PC2100. I would expect some kind of error message if the display adaptor has a problem with the load, not a reboot, maybe even just a hang. Any ideas to look at. The bios is dated 08/08/05 which is pretty new as bios's go. Temps are okay, fans are okay, power supply is new, 550 watts, memory is new. I know the video shares memory, but with 1mb, would that matter or is that memory coming from some place else? Need some ideas. Thanks Steve C Thanks, Steve C
