Vertical lines on monitor

I upgraded my hard drive which required a new install of Windows 2000. No problems
before the install. A virus program was loaded and then small, uniform vertical
lines appeared on the startup screen and randomly on all program screens. It's not
the monitor. I'm guessing it's the video card. Any suggestions?
