Windows is just trying to help and the norm is on command files like exe,bat,com,etc. 
it will also do it on some doc files because they have a hidden header in the files 
that tell windows what to load when you select the file ,like a program,printer,normal 
dot,etc.
I don't know of a way to disable this annoyances unless you are real good with a 
hex edit program.
It's a built in default item in all windows OS.
